Hazardous Areas - Electrical
Our hazardous areas electrical training course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to work in hazardous gases and dust atmospheres, as well as understand and apply the principles and concepts of pressurisation and purging in a hazardous area.
On completion you will be qualified to supervise, select, install, commission, maintain and test explosion-protected equipment and systems for control and monitoring of plant and processes. The program is mapped directly to the AS NZS AS/NZS 4761.1 Competencies for working with electrical equipment for hazardous areas - Units of competency.
We also offer hazardous areas awareness training targeted at non electrical personnel who are required to work in hazardous atmospheres such as production and maintenance personnel.
Training programs can also be designed and delivered on site to suit your particular compliance needs.
The Certificate IV Electrical Instrumentation program is designed for licensed electricians who are required to work with instrumentation used in industries such as gas, petro-chemicals, sugar, mining, food and manufacturing. Instruments may measure and control temperature, pressure and flow in processes used in industries such as petro-chemical, mining, food and manufacturing.
The program covers key concepts of instrumentation and process control systems, and focuses on fault finding techniques for instruments used to control pressure, density/ level, flow and temperature variables. The program also includes skills and knowledge to use programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
All of our activities and assessments are conducted on modern specially designed and engineered equipment to give you the full experience of working across a range of equipment commonly in use in industry today. Participants will be provided with access to a laptop and software to complete the PLC component of training and you will be expected to have a high level of computer skills and ability to readily learn new software.
Our HV Switching program is designed to ensure safe isolation and access to high voltage electrical equipment. It is intended for electrical workers required to work with HV switchgear in industrial facilities and networks.
The course is structured to provide students with five (5) days of face to face training, incorporating theory, practical group based exercises and a final day of practical switching exercises for assessment purposes.
We have on site equipment to conduct your switching. Alternately, we can also conduct in-house courses where participants can practice on their own organisational equipment.
Our new Construction Wiring course addresses current industry issues relating to wiring rules, standards and electrical safe working practices. The course focuses on ensuring compliance with the Work Health & Safety 2011 laws, regulations, codes and standards, the Queensland Electrical Safety Act 2002, regulations and codes of practice and the AS/NZS 3000: 2007 wiring rules and the AS/NZS 3012:2010 Electrical Installations - Construction and demolition sites.
Work Health and Safety
Future Skills provides specialist Work Health and Safety (WHS) training courses. Our courses combine theory and practical based learning, using current case studies, issues, data and tools from across industry. Our WHS courses focus on developing skills and knowledge through group work and activity based learning.
