Course information
10852NAT Course in Working Safely with Asbestos Containing Materials is a nationally accredited course.
Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) are prevalent in our community as a large percentage of Australia’s buildings, including public and private housing stock, were constructed between 1920 and 1990, when ACMs were a commonly used building materials.
Whilst much of this material is in stabilised form, there remains an ongoing environmental, health and safety risk whenever ACMs are disturbed. This risk is particularly evident for those workers that are required to work with ACM.
Evidence from industry indicates that despite the detail contained in the appropriate Code of Practice, potentially dangerous work practices are currently still being used to drill or penetrate ACMs, placing workers, householders and others at risk of inhaling asbestos fibres.
10852NAT Course in Working Safely with Asbestos Containing Materials, is a nationally accredited course designed specifically to train workers how to safely drill into asbestos containing materials, minimising risks to the individuals and the community.
This course teaches tradespeople such as electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, carpenters and refrigeration mechanics to work safely with asbestos containing materials in domestic and commercial buildings. It covers skills and knowledge in worksite preparation, PPE requirements, safe drilling and decontamination.
